The Facilities Services summer construction program is about to start on Monday, June 11, following spring convocation. If you’re walking around campus this summer from 56thto 60thStreets, and from Drexel to Dorchester Avenues, you may come across scaffolding, road work, façade renovation and reroofing, landscape improvements and interior building renovations. The Campus Construction Interactive Map gives you a visual of where we will be working.
We work closely with our colleagues in the Office of Civic Engagement, Transportation and Parking, the Registrar’s office, and Safety and Security to coordinate the impact of summer work on colleagues and neighbors. In addition, we provide updates on construction activities to the campus community on a regular basis particularly when there are needed road or lane closures and if pedestrian walkways require rerouting.
As in the past, it’s a busy summer with workers on site throughout working hours Monday through Friday. At times, we will coordinate after-hours and weekend work, as needed. Though our FS program of work and activities is robust throughout the calendar year with project schedules starting throughout the year and extending beyond summer, the “official” end of the FS summer construction season is Friday, Sept. 21, in time for the start of the new academic quarter.
