The Michelson Center for Physics will be awarded the Award of Merit in the Higher Education category and the Award of Merit in the Safety category from Engineering News-Record (ENR). The awards will be presented at the annual awards conference on November 26 in Chicago, IL. The Michelson Center for Physics project involved a substantial renovation and two-story vertical expansion to increase the building gross square footage from 38,500 to 63,500. The Michelson Center for Physics was also a finalist for the Chicago Building Congress Merit Award for New Construction in the $15 - $55M category. The project was completed in 2017 and received the LEED Gold Certification in February 2018.
