Our APPA Journey

We have much to be proud of in Facilities Services. The amazing appearance of the campus year after year is a real and tangible attraction for students choosing to attend the University, for contributors choosing to provide financial support, and for world-class faculty who generally have many career options. The University of Chicago is an amazing place and amazing things are accomplished within the walls that are entrusted to us.

The Facilities Services department has embarked on a transformational journey toward national APPA recognition. During this journey, our organization will become a national leader in higher education facilities management. In November 2018, we invited APPA to visit our campus to conduct a Facilities Management Evaluation Program (FMEP). After meeting clients and staff, the team provided us with insightful feedback that was very positive. To view the FMEP report, click here

Using APPA’s Award for Excellence (AFE) model of 8 assessment areas to measure impact and efficiency, we created a Gap Analysis which identified activities in the following areas:
