In order to further improve the safety of pedestrians throughout campus, there will be restriping of crosswalks near 60th & University Ave., and concrete curb bump-outs at that location and each of the 10 Midway Plaisance crossings. The graphic below helps show the impacted crosswalks. The contractor will be starting with phase 1 locations first, moving their way northbound from there as shown for phases 2 and 3. During this project, speed feedback and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed as well, to further enhance the Midway Plaisance crossings and heavily trafficked crossings on 55th.
Schedule:
Start: Mobilizing the week of August 4th
The work will continue into the Fall Quarter – Completing Phase 3 in October, with final landscaping scope completion in the Spring of 2026.
Construction Impacts/Disruptions: Throughout the project, campus occupants and visitors can expect the following:
- Crosswalk temporary closures
- Signage will be used to highlight alternative routes when the team reaches a point in the phased schedule for a respective crosswalk to close down.
- Instances where traffic will narrow down to one lane of traffic, but no full street closures
- Noise and minor dust during the asphalt/concrete scope.
