Campus South Program: Construction Updates

Below is the monthly update for February 2019. The information details construction activity planned at the two Campus South project sites.

Woodlawn Residential and Dining Commons - 1156 East 61st

  • The concrete structure is nearly complete for the west tower.

  • Continued concrete work on the north tower.

  • Concrete work will begin on the south tower in early February.

  • Continued installation of electrical, mechanical and plumbing infrastructure.

  • Continued installation of exterior wall framing.

  • Continued layout of interior walls as floors are poured.

  • Crews of 7 to 15 workers are expected to work Saturdays for the next four weeks.

  • Vibration Monitoring Update:  None of the monitors have been triggered since the last update.

Rubenstein Forum - 1201 East 60th

  • Lower level perimeter soil backfill is complete. The balance of soil stockpile on site will be removed in the coming weeks.

  • Perimeter scaffold installation is in progress and will continue as the building progresses vertically.

  • Ground level concrete slab-on-grade/core walls and 2nd floor slab are complete. Pouring of 2nd floor columns and core walls is in progress.

  • ComEd utility work began on Woodlawn Avenue and will continue through February.

  • Construction crews will be working weekends throughout February to make up lost days due to recent subzero temperatures.

We also have installed a message board north of the sidewalk on 61st Street - at the end of University Avenue to display construction status updates.
