TRANSIT
Together, CTA, Metra and Pace serve the majority of the Chicagoland area, as well as Northern Indiana. The RTA offers a free internet trip planner that can help you find your way to the University from anywhere in the region.
Employees of the university are eligible for a federal program which allows you to spend up to $230 per month, tax-free, on transit. Even if you’re not eligible for the federal program, any student, staff or faculty member is eligible for free transit on the University’s local transit system. During the day, CTA bus routes 170, 171 and 172 offer free transit around the university. The 192 is a shuttle from the U of C hospitals to downtown transit hubs. At night, take the free evening shuttles all around Hyde Park.
Transit users are also eligible for the Guaranteed Ride Home, Car Sharing and Occasional Parking programs.
