CAR SHARING PROGRAM

Car sharing is the short-term use of a vehicle for a fee through a membership-based organization. Vehicles are available for as short as an hour. Users pay for time and/or mileage each time they check out a car.

Instead of bringing your car to campus for errands, meetings, or other chores, leave fuel, insurance, and car maintenance costs to someone else.

Unfortunately, we can no longer offer subsidies for these programs, but we strongly encourage registration — it’s just the convenient thing to do.

Until the end of the year, students and employees can get free enrollment into the Connect by Hertz program – just enter the codes 1865689 (students) or 70400 (faculty or staff) when registering on its website.

In Chicago, we are fortunate to have three car-share providers, I-GO, ZipCar, and Connect by Hertz. Both have vehicles on campus and throughout Chicago to make it easy to find a vehicle when you need one. The University and the Medical Center have car-sharing vehicles located at these parking lots:

There are also several other cars located in Hyde Park and throughout the city. Go to www.igocars.org/locations, www.zipcar.com/chicago/find-cars, or www.connectbyhertz.com for more information.
