61st & Drexel Office Building

Overview

The 61st & Drexel mixed used parking structure and office building is a joint University-Chicago Biomedicine project. The facility includes a 361,000 gross square foot, 1,000-car parking garage to accommodate University of Chicago Hospitals employees, and a 70,340 gross square foot 4-story office building fit out to house University administrative offices.

University occupants of the office building include the University of Chicago Police and administrative offices for Financial Services, Risk Management and Safety, and Human Resources, along with IT support services for those units. The University Police facilities include a communications center, offices, and support facilities and have a separate building entrance along 61st Street. The first floor Police and Human Resources spaces also are outfitted to serve as the University’s Emergency Operations Center.
